Dear Family Members,
For the past 13 years, our Grade 4 students had an amazing opportunity to participate in STARBASE. STARBASE is a week-long field trip to the Connecticut National Guard headquarters in Windsor Locks, CT. Students participate in inquiry-based learning the entire time. This learning includes CAD (Computer-Aided Design), coding robots, engineering challenges, using various measurement tools, and seeing real-life Black Hawk Helicopters. Most importantly, this experience is 100% FUNDED by the United States Department of Defense.
It is with great sadness to inform you that the funding for STARBASE has been STOPPED as of, January 30, 2025. Now, the “leaders” of the United States Department of Defense decided that this nation-wide program is not beneficial to our students and the future leaders of our country.
PLEASE, PLEASE contact our Connecticut Senators in Washington D.C. and encourage them to “recede” the House's budget of $60 million to keep the funding for STARBASE.
