Principal's Message

GayleHills.jpgWelcome to the Academy of Aerospace and Engineering Elementary School! As the school’s founding principal, it is my pleasure to introduce the Capital Region Education Council’s (CREC’s) newest magnet school. In this, our fifth year, we welcomed 432 preschool - fourth grade students through our doors.

Our STEM-based (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) theme serves to ignite curiosity, promote exploration and foster collaboration and scientific thinking through hands-on, inquiry based learning experiences. The inter-disciplinary curriculum provides students with strong foundational knowledge and emphasizes understanding of the world around them.

Technology, in state-of-the-art classrooms, supports and enhances the learning as teachers and students use iPads, Smart Boards, digital cameras and other resources throughout the curriculum.

Students who attend the Academy of Aerospace and Engineering Elementary School have the unique opportunity to experience a STEM integrated curriculum from PreK – 12th grade. The Academy of Aerospace and Engineering Middle and High Schools provide a pathway which allows students to build on their knowledge throughout the continuum.

Each year, our school will grow by adding a grade level of students until we reach our capacity at fifth grade. Our temporary facility is located at 525 Brook Street in Rocky Hill. A permanent building, specifically designed to support the STEM theme will be constructed within the next 3 years

We understand that making a decision about where to enroll your child requires deliberate thought and consideration. To that end, we welcome you to visit our school to witness the learning community in action.  We believe that your visit will confirm that you have made the right choice for your child’s education in the Academy of Aerospace and Engineering Elementary School.
